- Company Profile: The company's predecessor, China Pacific Insurance Company, was established on May 13, 1991, as a nationwide joint-stock commercial insurance company approved by the People's Bank of China, with a registered capital of 1 billion yuan. After a capital increase in 1995, it became 2.006 billion yuan. In 2001, following the approval of the State Council and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission for the separation of operations and institutional reform, the original China Pacific Insurance Company was standardized according to the Company Law and renamed China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. At the same time, CPIC Group initiated the establishment of CPIC Life and CPIC Property & Casualty, each with a registered capital of 1 billion yuan. By the end of 2002, CPIC Group underwent a capital increase and expansion, changing its registered capital to 4.3 billion yuan. In 2003, CPIC Group increased capital in CPIC Property & Casualty, raising its registered capital to 2.452 billion yuan. In 2005, CPIC Group and investment entities controlled by funds managed by Carlyle Group, Parallel Investors Holdings Limited and Carlyle Holdings Mauritius Limited, increased capital in CPIC Life, raising its registered capital to 1.998 billion yuan, with foreign investors holding 24.975% of the total shares after the capital increase. On April 30, 2007, CPIC Group completed the issuance of 2.4 billion new shares to some existing shareholders and foreign investors, increasing the registered capital to 6.7 billion yuan, with foreign investors holding 19.90% of the total shares after the capital increase; simultaneously, CPIC Group acquired all the shares of CPIC Life held by foreign investors. On May 15, 2007, CPIC Group increased capital in CPIC Life and CPIC Property & Casualty respectively, raising their registered capital to 2.3 billion yuan and 2.688 billion yuan.
